Goynar Baksho, a film adaptation of Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's novel, is about three women, belonging to three generations. It is through the nature of their association with a goynar baksho or jewellery box that the evolving social status of these women gets explored, not without a healthy dose of comic elements. But Pishima (aunt - Father's sister) does not leave the women of later generations, Somlata and Chaitali alone – she haunts them to act on her whims and fancies.
