Guddu Dhanoa is a Hindi film-maker, who entered the industry in the early 1990s.
Guddu Dhanoa marked his entry into Bollywood by producing Deewana (1992), starring Rishi Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan besides others. The movie was a hit and so was its music.
Dhanoa directed the film Elaan in 1994, which was a great action flick. The film, starring Akshay Kumar and Madhoo in lead roles, gained mediocre success at the box-office. His next film Gundaraj (1995), starring Ajay Devgan as the lead, failed to do well. Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), starring the duo – Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, had also flopped. In 1997, Dhanoa directed Ziddi, starring Sunny Deol as the main lead. The movie, a great action flick, was a hit. This consolidated Dhanoa’s position in the industry.
Dhanoa produced Udaan (1997), starring Rekha and Saif Ali Khan besides others. The movie failed, despite some good performances. He then made Aflatoon the same year, starring Akshay Kumar and Urmila Matondkar. This movie flopped too. Salaakhen (1998), with Sunny Deol again, didn’t create any impact on the audience. Bichhoo (1998), which boasts of a really good performance from Bobby Deol, did average business. Teaming up again with Bobby Deol, Dhanoa made 23rd March 1931: Shaheed (2002). The movie was a disaster at the box-office, but had its share of critical acclaim. Hawa (2003), a horror-flick featuring Tabu, was a big flop. Jaal: The Trap (2003), starring Sunny Deol and Tabu, had also flopped, though it had some good action sequences. Kismat (2004), starring Bobby Deol, was a big flop. In 2005, Dhanoa produced a couple of thrillers, viz. Siskiyaan and Sheesha. Both films, starring Neha Dhupia, had flopped. Dhanoa’s recent action flick Big Brother (2007), starring Sunny Deol and Priyanka Chopra, had also done below average business.
