Gundaraj is a violent love story cum revenge drama starring Raja and Megha in the lead roles. It features Raja as Pralay who falls in love with Hiya after she initially hates him. She happens to be the daughter of M.L.A Rajat Ghosh who will finish anyone who comes in his way and for that he has goons on his payroll and an evil lawyer, cop and promoter to keep him company(One of the cops+the lawyer happens to be his brothers). Rajat finishes Pralay’s father when he sees his men killing a journalist as she has evidence against Rajat. Since Rajat is against Pralay and Hiya’s relationship, one by one, he finishes off everyone in Pralay’s family including his sister, brother-in-law and mother and he is the only one left. However even though he is grievously injured by Rajat’s men, he remains alive! He loses his memory only to regain it later and goes on a killing spree later on which includes finishing off Rajat as well.

The film’s lead pair isn’t too high on acting skills though Raja shot to fame with the serial and has even appeared in a film ‘Fight 1:1’ before this. Even Megha has acted in ‘Bindaas Prem’ before and is seen strutting around in hot pants in the initial part of the film, but she definitely needs to tone herself a bit before she wears such outfits. Bollywood baddie Shakti Kapoor who acts as Rajat and appears in his 2nd Bengali film in less than 2 years(he has disappeared from Bollywood) is probably the most interesting thing about this film where there is a lot of violence and even Sambhavana Seth’s item number is nothing to write home about.
