They were acting in the play 'Bisarjan' by Rabindranath Tagore in the college social. Nandalal was acting as 'Joy Singha' and Sefali was 'Aparna'. While acting they fall in love with each other. Sefali was the neice of Mr. Bannerjee. She was smart and also expert in music and dance. Mr. Bannerjee was a Sahib in his appearence and attitude. Nandalal was shifted to a mess which was near to Sefali's house. Mr. Bannerjee was not at all willing for the marriage of Sefali with poor Nandalal. He hated poor people. Nandalal misunderstood Sefali and left the mess. He met one of his friends Bhupen. Bhupen always thought of being a rich man by investing money in the horse race. Nandalal met with Bhupen with the same dream. Sefali did not know why Nandalal left the mess, so she was very offended. In the mean time not getting rich Nandalal become very frustrated and one day came to Mr. Bannerjee's house to compromise with Sefali. But Nandalal could not say anything because suddenly there appeared Sefali's mother and uncle. At one time Bhupen introduced Nandalal to Juthika. Juthika issued an advertisement in the 'Atasi' magazine wanting a suitable groom for her. Nandalal applied for the post. But the editor of the magazine himself was tryig the same. So both of them engaged in a brawl. The editor became senseless after a few blows of Nandalal. Nandalal came back to his mess. Bhupen came with a lawyer. The lawyer informed that Nandalal had become a heir of a huge property due to the death of his distant relative. Nandalal came to Mr. Bannerjee's house in disguise of Kumar Bhaduri. Aftewr some funny incidents Kumar Bhaduri alias Nandalal was married to Sefali.
