Sameer Khan (Ajay Devgan ) is a very successful film star, who actually was a small town boy years ago. He gained all his fame by compromising on his values which was given to him by his Mentor Siddhu (Pankaj Kapur). Siddhu was a bandit, but left it all when he realised the importance of truth, but Sameer's changed priorities creates a void between them. Sameer is married to his childhood love Sneha (Vidya Balan), who used to love him for his honesty and values. But when she comes to terms with his changing principles, the distance between them increases although Sneha continues to live under same roof for her son's sake. However, Sameer's life turns upside down one day when he witnesses a murder in a party where he is present. No one dares to give his statement as the murder is done by the sons of two powerful people of the city. Even Sameer stays quiet, as he considers his career as top-most priority, but after his initial silence, Sameer is reminded of his values and decides to raise his voice. But Minister Gaikwad (Darshan Jariwala) and Shiv Nagarajan, the father of the accused are made of sterner stuff and leave no stone unturned to stop him. Sameer Khan is made to face music from all sides for his brave step. He tries to get justice for Rashmi's sister and mother, but gets support from no one else. Siddhu comes back for his protege at the right moment, and helps him in sailing ahead confidently. But will Sameer succeed in his aim? Will he stand by his principles and still comes out trumps?
