Sankha Banerjee is master of everything. He is the story writer-screenplay writer-dialogue writer-music director and the director of the latest released Bengali film “Hasi Khusi Club”. The only relief about the film is that it is 1 hour 55 minutes long. The rest is having an experience of watching an office-club drama show.
Sankha wanted to make a comedy with Jeet and Barsha, but he didn’t know both are non-actors. The only expectation is Biswanath whose sense of timing is excellent, which is a must for any kind of comic acting.
Aniket (Jeet) and Kabi (Biswanath) lives in a house. Aniket teaches music to Hiya (Barsha). There is a club run by Mama (Biswajit Chakraborty), a confirmed bachelor. That club has decided to stage a theatre “Swadhinata” on the next 15th August. The director of the show is Byom. He is very serious than his artists. His wife Anjana (Papiya Adhikari) always flirts with local youths.
The entire backdrop is set for an ideal comedy. Even a new born baby is there to make the story more crunchy.
But Sankha, the story writer-cum-director introduced one serious issue like killing of female feat us, and that makes the entire film dampened.
And then on everything becomes predictable. We all knew the actual mother will get back her female child whom she left unconsciously in Aniket’s room.
The sex fantasy sequences of Kabi, the tabla player, with hair style like Zakir Hussain, needed more variation. In spite of that Biswanath delivered the best. So, as Biswajit Chakraborty with his “Bangaal” dialect. Papiya Adhikari wins the heart by her sex-starred look and the “Gharete Bhramar Elo Gun Guniye” dance number- it is hilarious.
Sankha has thought to do something different, but he never thought that it demanded a different kind of talent, which he lacks. Making a comedy is the toughest task under the sun.
