  • Extremely Dramatic Film!!

Hariye Jaai rating: 3 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 29 Mar 2012)

‘Hariye Khuji ‘is an extremely dramatic film which turns out to be a one big tearjerker. It is the tale of Sundar,a budding scriptwriter in the film industry who becomes a star director/actor after he gets a good break. He marries Nita, a very successfull playback singer and both are the peak of their careers.Sundar discovers Shabnam at a ‘Kotha’ whom he rechristens Kanchan and launches her in his film.Even she becomes a very successful star. She comes in between the couple as Nita suspects Sundar of having a affair with his ‘creation’ and doesn’t want to understand anything. No, initially it is completely untrue and is completely Nita’s thinking, yet it does not become true. Also Nita has this habit of always looking down upon Kanchan as she comes from a kotha.Things become such that Sundar’s life becomes hell as he is torn between two women. It becomes a soppy affair as all three of them are tormented souls.Kanchan walks out of Sundar’s project and he is shattered.Eventually he expires after he takes an overdose of sleeping pills after a night long drinking session.

The film is too full of drama and pathos. All the three characters are tormented souls and such a poor quality of screening where the screening was going blank in a North Kolkata theatre made the viewing worse and made people like us also seem like tormented souls. The film has only drama and drama, in fact it has simply nothing else. The three leads Abhishek Chatterjee, Nivedita Chatterjee and Gargi Roychoudhury have done well. There is one particular character who pays a visit to each one of these characters and gets a confession out of them by hitting them where it hurts. He disappears as he had appeared and Bibek Biswas turns out to be none other than our ‘conscience’.
