Hastey-Hastey is yet another comic offering this season. And like all in line, this one also fails to deliver. The story and screenplay is silly and outdated. Neel (Jimmy) and Maya (Nisha) are in love in New York. However, Neel returns to India to start a business. Tanvi (Monishka) helps him out and also falls for him. After being ignored by Neel, she turns the devil and takes revenge on Neel. How he comes out of it is what the film is all about.
Director Ramanjit (aka Tony) has directed quite a few films in the 80s and 90s, the last being the Ritesh starrer "Out Of Control". He has no hold on the matters. It is just left to his two performers, Jimmy and Rajpal to execute the scenes to create some laughs. Rajpal, in a triple role, excels. He is getting better over the years, but should now try out different kind of roles and not get typecast.
The music is just OK. Anu Malik is disappointing with most of his scores this year. The two girls are more interested in displaying their physical assets than acting. They surely need some grooming in case they want a career here. The supporting cast is wasted with wafer thin characters. Technically the film is good.
Finally if you really want to "Follow Your Heart" (the tag line of the title of the film), then watch some other film, or if comedy interests you, try a Hrishikesh Mukherjee or Basu Chatterjee flick at home or wait for Priyadarshan's 'Mere Baap Pehle Aap'.
