The story revolves around Hirak Ganguly and Manik Ganguly, also known as Hirak and Manik. Their father Alok Ganguly is well-to-do. One day, their car collides with a lorry and the parents perish. Hirak and Manik get shelter in their uncle Baren Ganguly's house. But their aunt doesn't show any special fondness for them. Alok's advocate friend Asim Basu gives money every month from Alok's savings to Baren for Hirak and Manik. But Baren doesn't spend this money on them. He spends this money for the betterment of his own family and business. His family members treat Hirak and Manik as servants. Hirak and Manik are highly fond of the book "Chander Pahar" and taking inspiration from there, they escape. They decide that they will go to Chander Pahar. Hirak and Manik start their journey. The feel very tired and hungry. Suddenly they meet a lorry driver on the way who gives them a lift. They come to a dhaba and get a job there. Everybody loves them there. But one day they leave the place. When they are running away, they meet Ravi who chases them. Hirak and Manik enter into a deep jungle. They spend a rainy night there. They fall ill and Mani Roy gives them shelter. Her husband Prashant Roy is a forest officer. Mani takes care of them and treats them as her own children, because Mani has lost her son seven years ago. Prashant doesn't agree with her, but after sometime he understands Mani's feelings towards Hirak and Manik. This however is not the end of worries for the two hapless boys. Since they do not give up and persevere for happiness and stability, they finally do achieve it.
