    Like a bad Ramsay's film!

Himmatwala rating: 1 out of 10

The 80's will be back! screamed the trailers of Himmatwala. As an 80's child, I have to admit loving the 80's masala films like Mawaali, Justice Chaudhry, and of course, Mithun da films like Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (I am Bengali after all!).

When I heard Sajid Khan was remaking the film, I was hoping he would channel some of Farah Khan's spoofing abilities (think Om Shanti Om), and from the trailer, I actually started looking forward to the film as a time-pass entertainer. Unfortunately, I forgot that there was one problem in the way of this film becoming entertaining ... » read more

Sajid does not make film for critics, But I believe critics are too a part of audience. A film has too be an entertainer, as we spend our Time to write about a particular film. But Audience are spending money just to get entertained.

First of all , Let me clear that this HIMMATWALA is not a Remake of Older one. The Older HIMMATWALA had a Story that Ravi is sent by his mother to City to ... » read more

    Hi-Mat-waaaa-la

Himmatwala rating: 2 out of 10

Paresh Rawal doing a la Kader Khan, Tamannah fitting into the shoes of Sridevi and the gorgeous tiger were the 3 worth see of the movie. Tamannah is graceful, gorgeous and a woman who can ooze hotness and emotions. ajay devgan didnt really do much as the Himmatwala. Zarina Wahabs role seemed a tad similar to that of Agneepath.

Before interval this was atleast a bit entertaining with the Paresh Rawal - Mahesh Manjrekar scenes, but after interval the jokes got ghastly, the violence got too much to handle and the movie was really long. Load sof editing could be ... » read more

    get ready to be hammed

Himmatwala rating: 0 out of 10

an official remake of jeetendra and sridevi starrer entertainer, this film is also entertaining, no doubt. but is full of hamming, over acting actors, especially to create comedy. this after a certain point of time gets irritating as we are used to today's style of comedy.

being n 2013, we can enjoy a drama film of the 80s, but comedy from that era only to remind us that it is 1980s is awkward. » read more

Tolerate this torture at your own risk!

With a heavy heart i went to see Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala. Frankly I was fed up with his constant raving and ranting of how his film will be a "blockbuster" or how his film is "entertainment at its best". It was these very pompous statements that turned me off right from the beginning. Anyways, when it was finally Showtime, the film began with the fat cow of Bollywood: Sonakshi Sinha, shaking her body to a number called Thank God It’s Friday. Let me tell you this is just about the best thing about the film. I never knew that I had voluntarily signed up for never ending ... » read more

Film: Himmatwala; Starring: Jeetendra, Sridevi... Oops, Ajay Devgan, Tamannaah; Directed by: Sajid Khan; Rating: **

Sridevi famously said recently that her 1983 career-making potboiler Himmatwala was no Mughal-e-Azam. She was right to a point... Until now, when Sajid Khan's remake of the 1983 K. Raghvendra Rao film has come along to provide a comparative viewpoint.

And suddenly the old Himmatwala does appear to be a classic. It gave us the timeless Sridevi as an arrogant spoilt rich bitch who mouthed insanely capitalistic dialogues like "I hate the poor".

Thirty years later, Tamannaah Bhatia does a Sridevi. She gets into Sridevi's leather pants, with a whip to match and tortures the peasants in a village lorded over by a fatuous feudal dad who is not really evil. He is just» Read full review
