Master Dharm Murthi had to vacate his village along with his wife & children for fear of a Bandookwala. His wife Savitri helped her son become an engineer who resolved to fight against the Bandookwala. The Bandookwala terrorised the villagers. His daughter Rekha (Sridevi) followed his footsteps and grew into an insensitive woman who tried to harass the people. Ravi soon returned to the village and started protesting against the Bandookwala. So the Bandookwala hit upon a plan. He asked his munimji's son Shakti to marry Padma. Shakti did so and together they started harassing Padma. But Rekha played the same trick against the Bandookwala pretending to be pregnant with Ravi's child, thus asking the Bandookwala to stop this harassment against Padma. After many years Ravi found his father at a dam construction site. Ravi fought against the Bandookwala and presented him as guilty before the panchayat. But Dharm Murthi freed the Bandookwala on the condition that he should show affection to the poor and treat them well. The Bandookwala did so. Finally he asked Ravi to marry Rekha.
