If you’re a fan of horror films, House Of Wax is something you’ve got to see. It’s got everything you would ever want from a horror flick – grotesque monsters, gory bodies, sharp weapons, sexy babes and an intriguing plot.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Sera, House Of Wax is a 2005 film, loosely based on the 1933 film Mystery of the Wax Museum. The film stars Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray and Brian Van Holt, amongst others. House Of Wax is the debut film of Paris Hilton, who was awarded the Golden Raspberry Award for the Worst Supporting Actress, rightfully so.
I hate giving out the story of a horror film, and I won’t with House Of Wax. However, to give an account of its basic premise, the film is the story of two brothers who kill an entire town and turn everyone into wax statues. A group of camping teenagers run into the two brothers and fall victim to them. Obviously, some will manage to fight and survive, and who does, and how, is what makes the film interesting.
For a change, most of the actors in House Of Wax have done a decent job at acting, which is something that is not expected from the cast of a horror flick. Elisha Cuthbert is a sweetheart to look at, even more so when she’s scared but bravely fighting off the bad guys. Chad Michael Murray, playing Cuthbert’s brother, has done a good job as well.
House Of Wax has some really gross and revolting scenes, which makes it really fun to watch. On the internet, it hasn’t received good reviews, but I recommend the film to anyone who loves cringing in repulsion to throats being slit, rods going through foreheads, fingers being cut off and lips being glued.
