‘Aurat jaat ka andar aana mana hai’ reads a stark board in front of Angarchand's (Amrish Puri) house. His sons Balram (Jackie Shroff), Kishen (Paresh Rawal), Shakit (Arbaaz Khan) and Jai (Akshaye Khanna) have taken a vow of celibacy after a tragedy struck the family for which they blame a woman. The family has a feud with another family in a nearby village. The other family is headed by Laxmi Devi (Laxmi) and her sons Surya (Akhilendra Mishra) and Pratap (Deep Dhillion) and son-in-law Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). Laxmi Devi's grand daughter Anjali (Kareena kapoor) and Angarchand's son Jai stage a drama of love before they realise that they are really in love. Jai's friend Lucky (Arshad Warsi), Kishens secret wife Gopi (Farah Naaz) and Anjali's maternal uncle Veer (Sunil Shetty) help them towards getting married but the main problem is the family enemity, Angarchand's hatred towards women and Laxmidevi's clever moves.
