Jay (Imran Khan) is an Assistant Director to this "hot shot" director who is famous for his candy-floss love story movies, however in reality, he hates love stories, and is a player. He believes love is nothing but a "sickness" which must be cured. On the other side of the story, Simran (Sonam Kapoor) LOVES love stories and has a fiancé named Raj. She is living a perfect life until Jay enters with his cynical opinions on love. It's the typical love story where the hero swears he's never going to fall in love;whereas the heroine is a die-hard romantic;but ends up falling in love with the heroine anyways. To sum it up in a simple way Simran first confronts Jay(who prefers to be called Jay);but he tells her he never was in love with her&was just being friendly. Then Simran moves on&is trying to be happy with Raj when Jai realises he loves her truly&admits it to her;but she's reluctant to believe him because this is the guy who swore there's no such thing as love&laughed at love stories. Then he-with the help of his friend tries to make her jealous&make her come back to him. On the whole it's a typical Candy-floss romance where the hero is "cool" and the heroine is "very cute".
MUSIC - Fascinating! One of the best music director duos in the industry have taken over it, so it can't be bad at any means. The Title Track, Bin Tere were The Best ones. But what was another praiseworthy part of the crew was brilliant background scores by Salim-Sulaiman, the best in it. Placings of old numbers, new English short scores, Great Guitar based instrumentals - everything was perfect. For Songs, Background Scores(And Great Location Shots of New Zealand), This one's a pleasure to watch in plexes.
DIRECTION - Punit Malhotra has handled this same old love story well with the help of newness in screenplay and much slapstick humor. Humor is the most praiseworthy item in the movie. Especially, some vulgar jokes has made the audience laugh much. But if I Come to the substance, nothing so special. But the film has admitted first that Love Stories are all the same. In that way, the film is honest in its means.

VERDICT - I HATE LUV STORYS will leave its mark only in College Gores or Young Hearts. It's Funny, Vulgar, Romantic, Young in itself. I Hate Luv Storys reveals the young mind of the creator Punit Malhotra. No very experienced director could have made this movie better, I mean that with this plot, very old-styled love story can't look good. So, if you're young and if you love good humor, this one's especially for You.

ACTING - The most "Dhansu" performance was given by Imran Khan. His improvement as an actor is conspicuous. Sonam was sweet and gorgeous but her acting skills can be more enhanced. Samir Dattani and Samir Soni were fare. But Making "Mahi Ve" the background theme of Veer Kapoor(Samir Soni) was very funny. Shotting of "Pyaar Pyaar Pyaar" which had small small clippings of every Shahrukh acted Romantic movies was also tremendously funny.
