Harimohun Dutta's daughter Indira in the prime of her youth was going to her father -in-law's house. On the way the dacoits looted all her precious possessions and left her in the jungle with a Brahmin priest family. She went to Kolkata and became a maid servant in Ramram Dutta's house assuming a new name, Kumudini. Subhasini, Ramram Dutta's daughter-n-law showered on her love and affection which soothed her inner passions of suffering. On Subhaisni's insistence she disclosed her real identity and told her the unfortunate story. Incidentially one day Indira's husband came to Ramram Dutta's house as a guest. He was a client of Subhasini's husband. Kumudini was engaged to serve the new guest. At first sight she was able to recognise her husband but he could not. When her husband left the house she accompained him as the wife of another man with him. Though it was shameful, her enchanting beauty captivated Indira's husband. Indira suffered as Kumudini, but was very happy with her husband. Suddenly her husband decided to go back to his village which unnerved Indira. Next day Indira's husband pledged his property in a will. But Indira did not want property from him. After lot of incidents the dream comes true. Kumudini gets her real identity. She gets back her husband, honour, property and all that she had lost.
