Indrani Halder was born in Kolkata on January 6th. Her father's name is Sanjoy Halder, She is popularly known as “ Mamoni” in the film industry. After passing school leaving examination from Multipurpose Girl’s School, she became a graduate from Jogomaya Devi College. She learnt classical dance from Thankumoni Kutti . She made her film debut in “Mandira” directed by Sujit Guha in 1990. She was the female lead of that film. She received the best actress award of BFJA in 1993 for “Kancher Prithibi” and in 1995 for “Charachar” directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta. She received the best actress award in 1997 for “Dahan” directed by Rituparno Ghosh. In Anjan Das’s “ Saanjh Batir Rupkathara” and “Faltu” her acting was highly acclaimed. She is the most wanted actress in television in these days. She is the lead artiste in superhit serial “Tithir Atithi” which is about 2000 episode old. She also acts in telefilms. She is also a popular anchor in television chat shows. These days apart from acting she has started directing. Though she made her directorial debut in telefilm she is busy planning for first directorial films. She was first married to Amarendra Ghosh who was a producer. That marriage did not last long after that she has a very close relationship with actor Sanjib Dasgupta, then she married a pilot. She has also established her own film production company.
