    Ishaqzaade ...a romance gone haywire

This was a tricky one since I still can’t make up my mind whether I liked it or not. On an overall note, the movie started with a bang (literally), retained the pace for next hour and a quarter and sadly, ended with a whimper.

By general precedence love stories are memorable when they have a tragic end. Iin literature, age old Romeo-Juliet, or our very own Heer-Ranjha, in recent time Erich Segal’s celebrated Jennifer & Oliver, and in Indian movies, Raj & Rashmi of ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and Vasu & Sapna of ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’. What made these stories was the ... » read more

There are some Writers/Directors who are connected to their roots, For E.g. Anuraag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, Tigmanshu Dhulia, etc. These directors try to emphasize more on the story, location, small characters, dialects and most important try to do something different than the usual run-of-the-mill concepts. One such Writer-Director is Habib Faisal who came to limelight with films like Band Baaja Baarat and Do Dooni Chaar, showing true potential for earthy stories rooted in Indian sensibilities. His connectivity with the local language, characters, city and the feel ... » read more

‘Ishaqzaade’ deals with the story of two lovers. They are fiery blooded. One is unpredictable while the other is ferocious. They hate each other but eventually love grows between them. Will they be able to live happily? Will their love succumb to the harsh circumstances?

The story is set in the daunting political confines of rural India. It’s a semi violent love story directed by Habib Faisal. Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun Kapoor is making his debut through this film. It also stars Parineeti Chopra. The movie is buzzing around in B town due to its great trailer ... » read more

What does one do when love strikes during times of war? And make no mistake. Elections time in a small dusty town of Uttar Pradesh is akin to war. Guns are fired randomly at enemies, real or imagined. Enemies fall to the ground. Morals lie crushed under heels. And finer feelings are buried under a rubble of trouble.

Into this town, here named Almora, enters love on silent feet. Well, maybe not so silent. "Ishaqzaade" is a very noisy film. The hero Parma (debutant Arjun Kapoor) is an uncouth animal, whose disgusting habits include kidnapping the town's nautch girl from a rival's party to dance at his grandfather's wedding. Later, his moral temperature» Read full review
