My Rating

  • Successful Lovestory

Ishqiya rating: 8 out of 10(ANIMESH GANGULY wrote on 21 Feb 2010)

Director Abhishek Choubey has surprised with his Debut Movie “Ishqiya”.The USP of the film is the perfect blending of Crime with Lovestory. It is not only that this is the first time where we found the blending of crime with love story, but also the way director Abhishek has presented the plot that is really commendable.

Secondly for the Uniqueness of storytelling, plot and location if the Director deserves letter marks then the stracast Bidya Balan, Naserruddin Shah and Arshad Warshi deserve distinction for their performances. Only for this trio the film is so realistic.

Now I want to narrate the summary of this story are about two people, Uncle Halujan (Naserruddin) and his nephew Babban (Arsad) have done double cross to their Boss Mustak (Salman Sahid) and left the place with 20 lakhs rupees. After visiting various places for saving themselves from Mustak they have taken a shelter near Krishna (Vidya Balan).Krishna is a widow whose husband Bidyadhar was a driver and was died by an accident. Bidyadhar was belongs from such a village where children after their birth firstly learn how to use “Tamancha” (means Gun). However with living with Krishna Both Uncle and Nephew have started to fall in love .But Krishna has used them for her own purpose and the climax of the film is weather Krishan has been able to fulfill her target or not that audience need to go to theatre and watch.

As per the acting is concern Bidya has delivered her best performance in this film.Naseruddin and Arsad has also justice with their character. But especially I mention about Bidya who has got a tremendous character which is written by Bishal Bhardwaj. In a very small role Rajesh Sharma also leave a mark to his character and it is very clear for this reason he has got lots of project in Mumbai.

Really Bishal has given his best in the way he has written the script as well as the music of the film also.

Mohana Krishna has also done his best in the cinematography the way he captured the locations of Uttar Pradesh that is really match with the essence of the film. As a constume designer Payel Saluja also has done her best.

But the people who are really deserved applaud, one is the captain of the ship Abhishek and another one is Namrata Rao for her smart editing.
