It takes a while for you to settle down with the pace of the movie. Ishqiya starts with Krishna (Vidya Balan) in bed with her husband, who is on the run from law and Krishna doesn't like it a bit. He commits to Krishna to surrender, if they don't come to power...and before you know, there is a big explosion. In some other part of the country, Babban (Arshad Warsi) and Khalujaan (Naseeruddin Shah) are enjoying a wild dance, where they are chased by Khalujaan's "mooh bola" Jija ji. They manage to fool him and run away with a booty, only to land up at Krishna's residence ... » read more

That’s exactly how you feel right from the start of this film. There’s a bullet waiting to shock you every half an hour! You know a lot of people actually thought that Ishqiya was directed by Vishal Bharadwaj… he’s given the music, co-written the screenplay, written the dialogues and he’s co-producing the film but it has been directed by debutant Abishek Chaubey who’s worked with Bharadwaj on Kaminey and Blue Umbrella. When you are a new director and you join you film with a name like Vishal Bharadwaj … you can do two things for your film

Ishqiya, directed by Abhishek Chaubhey is a beautiful story involving love, drama and revenge. The movie has been produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Raman Maroo. Gulzar has taken care of the lyrics and cinematography is by Mohana Krishna. Two if its songs, Dil to Bachcha Hain ji and Ibne Batuta have become a hit and are heavily downloaded from the net these days.

Abhishek Chaubey….Yeh tune Kya kiya bey….

Ishqiya rating: 4 out of 10

The talented person Mr. Abhishek Chaubey who has written the screenplay of the award winning film “Kaminey”, entered in the field of direction for the first time. I would say, yeh film uske liye “Kamini” ho gayi.

    Story:
It’s the same old story, presented in a kamini form. Two thieves, running from their big boss, landed in one house. The lady in that house traps both of thieves in their love, later lady turned out to be kamini. The climax turned out to be whole lot of different, all the kamina’s fight together, and the two thieves and the lady walking all ... » read more

In changing times when Hindi films spoken language is dominated by Hinglish, what should be the reaction to a film having splendid control on the lines (cutting across two of the biggest states of the country) as well as their correct diction? Grab it with both hands…

Krishna (Vidya Balan) is somewhat happily married to Vidyadhar Verma (Aadil Hussein) in some interior of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Verma is wanted in criminal cases and Krishna keeps persuading him to surrender and get his slate clean; because witnesses don’t exist against his more heinous deeds ... » read more

Most love story have been so typical and predictable. It’s very rare when we see something different or experience the unheard stuffs. Whenever such attempts have been done the director has proved its brilliance, but most of time all this goes vain{as far as box office success goes} in name of Art house cinema. But then there are few film makers like Vishal Bharadwaj who make films inspired by world cinema and adapt them so beautifully by draping them with Indian flavor. Adding to his different type of cinema we have “Ishqiya” a different type of romantic film set in ... » read more

    Okey...! ISHQ!

Ishqiya rating: 7 out of 10

Regardless of its colourful language, simmering sexuality, ribald humour and unabashed reverence for the offensive, the drama has enough lyricism, layers and eccentricity to stereotype it as grim or gawky. somthing in the fickle tone is set in the opening sequence itself wherein a couple shares intimate moments of domesticity when their bliss is shattered after a gas cylinder blows off. Let's see..! » read more

    Ishq – Ishq – Ishq…Kiya ???

Ishqiya rating: 8 out of 10

This film explains the reason why throughout the film you keep getting the film that you watching a Vishal Bharadwaj film. Director Abhishek Chaubey combines elements of his guru Vishal Bharadwaj (the rawness of the script) with that of Quentin Tarantino (the background score and wild characters), which results in an edgy, stylised comic thriller. Chaubey has handled the film like a pro and it doesn’t appear his first effort at all. He keeps the pacing brisk and the humor, crisp. He skillfully shifts notes going from suspense to laughter in a blink. Chaubey has been Vishal ... » read more

In ishqiya , you dont know what trun the story may take next. The three main character are so implusive and unpredictable. The movie is not dark, not sleazy but is high on drama. Arshad warsi has again porved himself in the film and naseeruddin shah is the boss. Every actor has given the best and aparkling performance. Much of the film's genius lies in its crackling dialogue which throws up so many little gems it's hard to pick just one. It's an assured, confident debut and one hell of a rollicking ride. The film's most enjoyable track is the love triangle which the director ... » read more

There is too much going on in this story for the audience to get a grasp of what is actually happening. Performances are amazing... Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi have given some of the best performances of their career. Vidya Balan as the rustic seductress is an absolute delight to watch. Dil to Bachha hai ji song lingers on in the viewer's mind long after the movie ends. Overall, definitely a must watch! » read more
