Sometimes a film comes out of the blue which surprises you shocks you and bewilders you.’Jaal’ is one certain hell of a film which has all the necessary ingredients required for a commercial film barring comedy and unfold itself in such a manner from time to time that you are continuously glued to the screen.
The film starts with a love triangle-Abir, Rai and Ayesha.Abir loves Rai, but Ayesha, his best friend loves him. He goes against his father’s wishes as his father wants him to get married to Ayesha. She tries to commit suicide and becomes a paraplegic.Abir goes back to her.Rai’s father lies to Abir that she has got brain cancer and not many days to live so he must marry her.Abir goes back to Rai.Confused? You will be if you actually see the film and at what intervals Abir switches from one girl to another. Just when you thought that whether anything else will happen in the film, the fun begins! The fun hasn’t begun…..Now it begins….Abir’s father is bumped off by a character wearing everything black including an overcoat, boots and gloves…The family solicitor is bumped off by the same character before he can make his own moves…Rai’s father is bumped off by the same character as he has discovered the killer’s identity…The killer lands up at Rai ‘s place to kill her ….By the time Agnidev Chatterjee, the cop investigating the case has thought of all the probable suspects but drawn a blank! The suspense continues….Abir arrives at Rai’s place to save her……….Who is the killer??????Any clue????Let it remain unsaid! The reason why he did what he did? It turns out that he had received no love from anyone from any quarters and that had forced him to take such steps. The killer dies in the end having being shot by Agnidev and Ayesha also dies as she comes in the way of the killer‘s bullet which was meant for someone else.Phew!!That was really something!
The best thing about this film is you are glued to the screen. It is a love triangle, it is a suspense thriller, it is a lot of things rolled into one! Tanveer who has acted in a film before is okay and better than a whole lot of other newcomers. He has got a good physique. Pamela who has acted in several films already is the pretty factor. She sure knows how to sizzle the screen especially with her strategically placed tattoo! The father-son altercation is something to watch out for and so is the appearance of Shilajit in the second half as Agnidev Chatterjee, the cop investigating the case. He is top notch! He keeps on saying a memorable dialogue-‘Bhalo Loker Kache Aami Nayaner Moni’,’Kharaper Janya Aami Shaakal Shoni’.Now who can beat that?
