Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai rating: 4 out of 10(Divya Solgama wrote on 09 Apr 2010)

As a kid use to love the Hollywood films which belonged to Fantasy genre. Those films were cute, funny and enjoyable. In our Hindi films we too had Fantast films which were made by Babubhai Mistry and few others, but the magic touch was missing. Later in early 90’s again there were few attempts like Chandramukhi and others but still the magic failed to be seen. Last few years the sudden rise of our new directors who probably must have grown of such Hollywood films like I had, started making films on this genre {most of them just copied the Hollywood films}. Milap zaveri comes with a Rom Com Fantasy film “Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai” let’s find out what’s the fate for this film.

“Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai” is story of Rajesh {Ritesh Deshmukh} who is a sweet innocent boy next door, waiting for a true love. Whenever he falls for any girl, they reject him. He and his buddy Kaushal {Vishal Malhotra } share each other’s sorrow and assist Director Farah Khan {Farah Khan} who is shooting a top star Desh {Ruslaan Mumtaz}. On the sets Ritesh meets Natasha [Sonal Sehgal] who is Desh’s sister and as usual falls in love with her too. History repeats itself and Natasha too dumps him. At that time out of nowhere a girl falls in Rajesh’s Lap. Later Rajesh comes to know that Tara [Jacqueline Fernandez] belongs to planet Venus. She is out here to find true love so she can share that experience with her people. Rajesh decides to help her out and by finding a true love for her. She wants Desh to be her love and thus Rajesh, Kaushal and Tara starts planning about how to get Desh fall in love with Tara and thus series of events follows.

Story is sweet and simple, but as the movie progresses it tends to be a usual run of mill romantic film. Screenplay is quick, funny and Apt in the first half, but second half drags at many places and leads to a predictable climax. There are some funny scenes in first half like Tara dancing on Bollywood songs, Kaushal sharing the Funda of “just friends” with Rajesh, Rajesh and Kaushal interaction with Tara, The whole Pink Pussycat stuff, etc. but sadly the humor and funny moments disappear as the love story starts in the second half. Though the film was around two hours, still the film dragged in second half and needed some crisp editing out there. Camera work was average. Special effects were fine.

Music by Sajid Wajid is nice, especially Chalte Chalte and the title song. Rest all songs were nice but hampered the flow of the film.

Milap Zaveri tries to make a Rom Com with good usage of Fantasy and succeeds in the first half, which is entertaining. But as second half stats the romantic track takes over the comical situations, which suddenly disappears as if it was never there in the film. Till the time the film entertains you, you don’t need to find the logic behind Tara’s mission or her existence, but as the film starts dragging, all such points’ starts raising questions in your mind, which fails to get satisfactory answers. Maybe if Milap had used his same style of first half type treatment in second half, the film would have been a sweet time pass film throughout.

Ritesh has done mastery in such type of roles of a loser and a simple boy next door. He carries such role very easily. His scenes with Vishal were one of the best scenes of the film. Vishal too was totally in character and one needed more of him. Jacqueline Fernandez is fine and does her part very well. Ruslaan, Sonal, Satish Shah, Supriya, Farah all were nice. The film also has some interesting cameos by few big stars.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hain dum ?

Dum hain, First half mein acha khaasa dum hain, but as the movie progresses to second half all dum fizzles outs. The fantast starts sounding stupidity and the whole movie drags to a predictable climax. The movie could had worked if the flow would had been same throughout, but with this end product looks like the film might not have a decent run, may be the film might work “Out of this World” from where Tara [Jacqueline Fernandez] came.
