Birsa ‘s first film '033' was a film about young urban people, new thoughts, new ideas and new experiments regarding the formation of a new Bengali rock band called ‘033’.It was the relationships between the members of the band, their joys, their sorrows and their angst.

His current film is also about an urban couple but is totally different in nature. The entire revolves around a couple Megha and Hiya.Megh is a struggling musician and Hiya an aspiring model. Both of just can’t get a foothold in their respective careers. The film starts off on a dream sequence where the couple is shown on a location which is high up in the mountains and the frames are in light colour which makes it worth watching. The same sequence returns in the absolute part of the film which really makes it seem as if the film is based on a dream.

Then you have certain characters in this film. There is Pat, a photographer who is handling Hiya’s portfolio and promises to help her reach the top only that he turns out to be a fibber and someone exploits Hiya. There is Meenakshi at Octane, the music company with which Megh tries to bring out an album who has a soft corner or Megh. Then there is Madhab Das who is somewhat associated with the music company and a complete weirdo, the security guard of Megh’s building who becomes a friend and drinking partner of Madhab and Ishwar, ex flame of Nirupama(Megh is her paying guest). Now he turns up to stay at Nirupama’s place when she is away as they don’t want to confront each other. Now this particular character is a penniless man who has nothing to do or even no one he can call his own except Nirupama. He is basically a useless, philandering bohemian as projected in the film except that he and Nirupama still have a soft corner for each other. Now these last three mentioned characters lend a dimension and create interest in viewing the film especially when they go to people right like Pat. The entire sequence along with the parts where Ishwar seems to make things appear out of nowhere like magic actually makes you think about his statement he is ‘Ishwar’ which means God , but a God without any work. It is quite impossible to think about anyone else in this role other than Anjan Dutt who has acted under someone else’s direction after a long, long time. He is so natural just like his role as a debauch musician in Ranjana Ami Aar Ashbo Na.Parambrata and Hiya do their part, but so are the other characters like Debaranjan Nag as the security guard and Shibprasad Mukherjee (Yup! the same guy who has given us Icche) who makes an excellent debut as Pat, the fashion photographer who befriends Hiya to help her only to exploit her later.Arijit Dutta as usual acts in his usual manner.

The music of this film is pleasant and the evergreen classic Hindi number ‘Jo Vada Kiya Woh’ from Taj Mahal sung by Mohd.Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar has been used as a caller tune of Megh as well as part of a song sung and composed by Indradeep Dasgupta. It sure seems to be one hell of a favorite song of the composer. This is also probably the first time that Anupam Roy of ‘Aamake Aamar Moto Thakte Dao’ has sung under someone else’s music direction other than his own.
