Jab Tak Hai Jaan music rating: 7 out of 10(suhail wrote on Oct 9 2012 11:47AM)

Expectations: A R RAHMAN - The name itself is influential! Heartbeat of whole India. After his last year's award-winning 'ROCKSTAR', he (Sir Rahaman) is back with most anticipated movie of the year. Already amassed a mountains of kudos for the promotional track 'challa'. 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' is a Legendary project, especially with big names-Yash Chopra, Rahman Sir and evergreen Gulzar. Now, the question stands-Will this be another Standard Rahman soundtrack or... Let's discover!

      'Challa' song - by Rabbi

Already a super-hit, 'challa' is a Superb fusion of cello string sounds and mild classical. The use of harmonica and woodwinds played effectively by Rahman Sir. 'Challa' stands for 'mad-lover' and will drive you crazy with its breath-taking lyrics. Gulzar sir comes up a spell-binding philosophy of a lover through punjabi verbalisation. Rabbi suits best with his vocals that are too perfect! All in all a sterling number to start with.

'Saans' song - by Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan

With such a brilliant and satisfying start we move forward with demanding expectations and come across another surrealistic and brilliantly crafted 'saans'. The commencement of this track is absolutely magical! The maestro has composed this track with extreme dignity. Shreya goshal definitely deserves felicitation(Best Playback) for her octave singing, mohit is good in his part too. The pristine love feelings are penned in such a beautiful manner. The Western musical arrangements do make up for this slow pace number and the culmination with Hindustani classical alaaps in the end. Will stop your saansein... as a tension reliever Truly a legendary song! (Highly Recommended! )

'Ishq Shava' song - by Raghav Mathur and Shilpa Rao

No need to low down your excitement level. 'Ishq shava' is another rollicking dance number that will refresh you with its catchy instances. A new age disco number with disco beats and has requisite thump to keep you interested. The biggest asset of 'Ishq shava' is effortless singing of shilpa rao. Even Ragahv has done enough to make this number a happening one and a frenzied composition. Will look superb on screen.

'Heer' song - by Harshdeep Kaur

'Heer' is simply mesmerizing. volatile drumming and shrill outcry will touch your heart deeply. Low key piano caressing are just magnificent. Harshdeep's vocals manages you to feel the intensity of this track. Sir Gulzar's magical words are just emotional and leaves a mark in your heart. The hope, passion, despair of Heer/saheba are expressed with solitude. A winner all the way!

'Jiya re' song - by Neeti Mohan

A modern day composition. Story is same old one but Gulzar and Rahman Sir presents that in a modern way. 'Jiya re' is a personality narration of protagonist. The claps sounds, western arrangements, and guitar tunes are attractive with some sound synchronisation
that are easy on ears. Neeti mohan performs confidently like a Rockstar! (Nice! )

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' song - by Javed Ali and Shaktishree gopian

Last but not least , the title track is finely composed. Javed ali shows his voice control with this track. Shaktishree's mid entrance gives life to this title track and carries the song in a unique texture. Semi-classical patrons who do not mind some good fusion with normal commercial tunes. A sense of pain and suffering and of being separated from the beloved is conveyed well through it. An outstanding conclusion to this great album!

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'(Poem) - by Sharukh Khan

Can't overlook this brilliant poem composed by Rahman sir and penned by Gulzar Sir. Its a lovely one , mostly impressed by the music that has sufficient value for its listeners. Thumbs up!

Overall-The quest for a start-to-finish brilliant Rahman album is satisfied with 'JTHJ'. No single track is less than good! Its impressive all the way. For me 'JTHJ' is another brilliant outcome by our legends with some songs that will remain forever and evergreen.

      My Favourites: 'Saans', 'Challa', 'Heer'.
