And, the most awaited music album released. For the first and last time, many legends are joining hands in this movie. With Yash-Gulzar-Srk-Rahman combination , people might be expecting something extra ordinary from them, Sadly, The hardcore Rahman fans will be unhappy with this album. It is surely not his best. Here are my views on the album song
Challa - This first promo song sung by the Rabbi Shergill, initially seems to be imperfect for voice of Srk. Guitars were similar to Rabbi's own song 'Bulla Ki jaana'. Still a catchy song. you cant forget easily.
Ishq Shava - Recently Srk tweeted that Ishq Shava is a Club Disco Number. well, i couldnt find disco tunes in this. Starts with Arabic tune, not so foot-tapping drowned somewhere in the middle.simple straight paced tune with no variations, Lack of energy from singers makes this song so weak. Sung by Raghav and Shilpa Rao. Definitely the weakest song of the album.
Ishq Dance - The instrumental version of 'Ishq Shava' is more energetic and foot tapping. It would have been used in the original. Not Bad
Heer- The best song in the album sung by Harshdeep, is well composed with excellent lyrics by Gulzar. This punjabi song is very melodious, you cant forget this for a long time.
Jiya re - Sung by Neeti Mohan, energetic introduction, with peppy tunes . average lyrics, but a catchy one.
Saans - Sung by the rare jodi Mohit and Shreya. This romantic song is starts off with violins played in background, which makes this song heavenly feeling. once again , great effort from Gulzar and Rahman in composing a beautiful love song. Shreya Takes it all, as Mohit disappoints bit with his style. It could have been better if Sonu or Udit were there in place of him. Good One
Saans (Reprise) - The female slow version of Saans, is on sad mood As usual Shreya did the great job. Good One
Jab Tak Hai Jaan - Unfortunately, the most discussed film title, had no a good version in song. The song sung by Javed Ali and Shaktisree Gopalan is seems to be situational song. May be good on screen. The two separate male and female segments without any ' mukhda' is starts well, but loses its soul halfway, when female segment starts. In music sense. It is good.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan (Poem) - The most catchy theme played in the trailer, is the last track of this album. Surprisingly, Aditya Chopra gave a fantastic job with lines, and mindblowing background arrangement of Rahman makes this song a successful. Excellent
Overall , i would like to give 3/5, if i compare this album with his own past albums. But is deserves 4/5 if I compare this with other music composers, recent music albums. Dont expect too much from Rahman. This album deserves a place in your heart.
(I had no great knowledge of music. This is just my opinion. )
