  • 3 hour movie based on a story written by a child!

    Jab Tak Hai Jaan rating: 4 out of 10(Aditya Prasad wrote on 25 Nov 2012)

    1 line Review: 3 solid hours of love triangle with a script written by a child.

    Last 2 movies of Shah Rukh Khan were Don 2 and Ra.One. You can read my Don 2 review here, Ra.One was not reviewed as it was not worthy of any.

    In Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) Yash ji tries to get the same romantic scoop from SRK as he would have got in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, but excuse me, that was 15 years back and the protagonist has grown older, has the same ham acting with the same facial expression which sadly does not work now.

    A 3 hour bliss for all die hard SRK fans for whom story does not matter as the script of this movie was the real HERO. I mean who could write about promise to Sir Jesus, waiting for 10 years, bomb defusal squad member with Ray-Ban and no bomb suit, 4 Army jawaan's running around a journalist, Army man leaves country loses memory and no one from Army cares, etc., etc., etc. Only a slightly grown up mussy child with some good movie exposure would have written this.

    Basically a rich girl falls in love with a man but cannot marry him because of her promises to her God (Oh my God). Heartbroken, this man goes to Indian Army to directly join the bomb defusal squad (like it's a cake walk) to defuse bombs in J&K wearing no protective suit and only Ray-Ban as he has challenged God to take his life (Oh my God). A journalist makes a documentary on him with her camera more closer to the bomb than SRK himself. She also falls in love and it becomes a love triangle. Phew, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost...

    There's a lot that happens after this and it would be interesting to watch only if you are SRK fan, else you would realize it's already 2 hours and there's 1 more hour of JTHJ to go. Odi baba! SRK loses and gets his memory back as well. Lots to see I tell you.

    Mostly shot in London and Kashmir, JTHJ surely comes with some viewing pleasure but I must confess that in our trip to Ladakh last month, my wife took better pictures! :)

    SRK does not suit in romantic roles, well not anymore. He has had his time. He should concentrate on 'My Name is Khan' and 'Swades' kind of mature stuff, where he gets appreciated by his critics as well.

    Katrina Kaif is the most beautiful actress alive in Bollywood today. She beats every chick hands down. Specially loved her dance just before the song 'Ishq Shava', awesomeness personified! With acting capabilities of not below average she is and will continue mesmerizing movie goers for long.

    Anushka did not have a convincing role but lets not get there, lets just enjoy her sexy legs and 12 inches wide smile.

    Takeaways from JTHJ:

    You don't need a suit to defuse a bomb;
    A journalist can shove a camera in a bomb while it is being defused;

    Men in the Indian Army are there only to roam around with a journalist;

    London Police allows any civilian to defuse a bomb just because he gives intense looks;

    Keep your promise with your god and lose everyone you love;

    The making of the movie is shown when the credit rolls. Amazing to see how Yash Chopra sits inches away from the actors doing intense scenes. Here's wishing you all the best for watching it with an 'Anushka Sharma smiley' :-]
