Well, i know its quite late to write a music review for this film but i just cant help but write.
Music of all Shahid-Kareena movies have been a hit iresspective of their box office status. Imtiaz Ali, the one who directed the very much critically acclaimed love story, Socha Na Tha is back with yet another love story, this time on a larger scale in every department. With music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, will this music album be a lovely journey?? Let's find out.
As soon as 'Mauja Hi Mauja' marks off the album, you know that you are in for a chartbuster song. Pritam ropes in Mika for this rocking solo outing and sets the standard high from the very beginning. The beats and the punjabi flavour are just too good. There is a remix version that appears in the end, and doesnt disappoint. It keeps the hook of the original on!
If Pritam had set the standards high with Mauja Hi Mauja, then he sets it even higher, with the romantic song in the offering 'Tum Se hi'. The song welcomes Mohit Chouhan after a great hiatus. Tum Se Hi which you just cant even think of letting go. The chorus in the background is excellent too. Its one of the best romantic tracks that one has ever heard and definitely the best of the album. For sure, this song is going to be a favourite among lovers and would be remembered for long in the years to come. The song later appears in a remix version, which fortunately doesnt kill the feel of the original. It turns out to be a well churned out remix.
Till now, we have had 2 songs both of them being solo male songs. Its time we hear another solo, but a female one which brings in Shreya Ghoshal for the young n peppy 'Yeh Ishq Haaye'. The song has some different and interesting beats which get a hook on you from the moment it begins. Shreya Ghoshal gives it her best shot and comes up with a perfect renderition. The song appears in a remix version as well, but surprisingly it doesn't have Shreya as the vocalist. Instead, we have Antara Mitra rendering this version. The remix is quite like the usual remix version, but however, it doesnt disappoint.
As we move on, Pritam brings in another full on bhangra based dance track. The song is a duet with Sonu Niigaam and Javed Ali coming behind the mic for this one. While Sonu marks off the antra, Javed takes off the proceedings further. The song is high on energy and both the singers provie exactly that. From the moment it kicks off to the moment it ends, it is set to keep you rocking out and out.
Escaping the dance flavour, Pritam is back with a soft soothing song 'Aao Milo Chalo'. The song is actually Aao Milo Chalein but titled the other way. The song has a romantic feel to it and gives an impression of the protagonists being on a journey while the song proceeds. Shaan is just the right choice for such a song, which has the innocent feel all over it. Surprise is in store with Ustad Rashid Khan also crooning some lines in the background. This song too will be remembered in the years to come, for long.
Imtiaz Ali, doesnt forget his debutant movie composer, Sandesh Shandilya in this album. He offers him to compose a track as the guest composer as a token, and Sandesh Shandliya doesnt disappoint one bit. He comes with a magical track 'Aaoge Jab Tum' which has classical written all over it. Ustad Rashid Khan croons a full fledged song this time and is just too good with his renderition. Melodious to the core, the song is sure to be a favourite among not only the old classical lovers but also the youth.
We are at the end of the album now, but the best just doesnt seem to end. After so many tracks, the listener would surely be confused in choosing the better one, but thats not the end because we have the 'Theme Music' which is an intrumental piece. This 4 minute long track, provides you with goosebumps at regular interval. Keeping the tune of 'Tum Se Hi' as base, the track takes you to a different world altogether from the moment it begins. Its high on orchestra and gives you a feeling like a live recording. A very lovely track, that is bound to grow on you. It is a song that you would enjoy most at romantic outings, like having a candle light dinner with your girlfriend/boyfriend and it is playing in the background.
Overall, Jab We Met is a beautiful album with none of the songs disappointing you. Its one of the best that you have heard as of late, and is bound to be in your favourite list for many years to come.
A must buy!
