‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ is a devotional film on the theme of faith in Goddess Santoshi Maa.
The main characters in the movie are Mahima (Nushrat Bharucha) and Anupam (Rakesh Bapat). It is seen that Mahima is the daughter of a music teacher called Gautam (Abhijit Lahiri). Anurag (Rakesh Bapat) learns music under Gautam and becomes his favourite student. Mahima and Anurag fall in love with each other.
Anurag has been brought up by Pratap after his father’s death. Pratap’s family does not like Anurag as they are after his property. Anurag gets married to Mahima and leaves to make a career in music, leaving behind Mahima. Mahima stays back and has to bear all the torture and taunts of her in-laws. She starts a series of ‘solah shukravar vrats’ and worships Santoshi Maa, turning to her for help.
It is shown how Santoshi Maa protects her and how Anurag also returns home after achieving what he had set out to do.
