• Jalwa is same old police and criminal story which has been done to death in Hindi Movies. But what makes this movie interesting is the stylish execution by director Pankaj Parashar.Naseeruddin Shah (Kapil) is a cold blooded cop who wants to abolish the drug mafia from the country. His brother had died of drug overdose and his friend Albert Pinto (Pankaj Kapur) was shot by the people behind the drug mafia. Kapil goes on leave to the mecca of Drugs Goa.Here he tries investigate by his own way and at the end terminates the criminals poisoning the country..
The movie has some unique character names like Kapil, Jojo, Albert Pinto, Sree Baby, Russi and many more. Amitabh makes a small appearance as himself. The music is so-so as only Dekho Dekho makes an impact..Among the performances Archana Puran Singh is strictly OK, Johny Lever is outstanding, Tejashwar Singh as DD is ok, Satish Kaushik and Akash Khurana are fine, Pankaj Kapur yet again prooves himself as a class performer even in a small role. But the man who takes the cake without a doubt is Naseeruddin Shah. This is one of his most criminally underrated performances.
But for me the heroes of the movie are the dialogue writer ( Kamlesh pandey) and Pankaj Parashar -the director. Kamlesh's comes up with some great lines in the movie. I will rate the dialogues of the movie as one of the best in indian cinema.Pankaj Kapur offcourse for making the cliche story interesting to watch.
