Before Jeena ends, you might forget the story line of the film, but please don’t forget the name of the director of this film. Her name is Sanghamitra Choudhury. You have to remember her name just to avoid her next Bengali movie.
Soham is a central male character around whom three girls Swarnakamal, Amrapali and Arpita revolves without any rhythm or any reason. Even at the end of the film it will difficult to identify the genre of the film which at times seemed to be a crime thriller, but actually not. The title sequence, a montage of some unexplained shots, is enough to damper your interest to sit through the entire 2hr plus film.
But initially when Arpita charges her husband Soham apart his involvement in a crime with Mink (Swarnakamal), you would feel interested until you know the origin of Mink.
You may wonder, that till now I have not mentioned anything about Jeena. Jeena is a little girl trapped in a big body of Amrapali. And there lies the trouble. Jeena bunks her school, fails in the exam and so she is send to her aunt (Indrani Halder) and uncle (Arijit Chatterjee) for reformation by her drunken mother and upset father.
But that too for a small time become both Indrani and Abhishek were in guest appearance. As Jeena breaks the cell-phone of her uncle, she is called back to her home by her father. But before that Jeena meets Siddhartha (Soham) there and they became good friends.
This far the film was within tolerance limit. But after that when Jeena morphed into a slim and beautiful model while running in a treadmill and that is Swarnakamal who calls herself Mink, it goes beyond that tolerance limit. So, Mink is the alter ego of Jeena. Do you think it is like the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide? No, it is not that, but the director probably wanted to make her protagonist having spirit personality. Anyway Mink tries to contact Siddhartha but cannot. Did you know why? The phone stops working.
Anyway, after years Mink meets Siddhartha, but by then he is married to Arpita, Siddhartha involves in a crime with Mink and Arpita charges her husband about that – now you understand why Arpita was charging her husband Soham in the beginning?
But is really Soham guilty of that crime? To know this you have to wait till the end and at the end you will find you know what. There is no twist in the tail.
Nothing to mention about any department of film making.
