Jekhane Bhooter Bhoy, Sandip Ray’s latest film is far removed from the world of detective films or a thriller like Hitlist and is in fact a ‘comic’ ghost film. Sandip Ray has a weakness towards Saradindu Bandopadhay and his father’s short stories and maybe since ghosts are the flavour of the season, why not make such a film now? That is why he has made this film which is based on 3 short stories-Anathbabur Bhoy and Brown Sahaber Bari written by Satyajit Ray and Bhoot Bhabishyat written by Saradindu Bandopadhyay. A fourth story,’ Lucknower Duel ‘ also written by Satyajit Ray which was supposed to be part of the film has been omitted at the last minute as the director wanted to keep it within 2 hours.
Each of the stories is completely different and Tarini Khuro, the popular story teller,a character created by Satyajit Ray acts as the link betwen the 3 stories though he is seen only in Bhoot Bhabishyat.
