Feluda, a detective has his own team with his cousin Topsey and his close friend Lalmohan Ganguly. They come to Benaras for holidaying, where they meet Umanath Ghoshal, who comes to Feluda for a lost golden statue. Feluda starts his investigation and goes to Umanath’s palace. He comes to know about an imposter, named Maganlal Meghraj, who had wanted to buy the golden statue, but was refused. Feluda meets with Maganlal Meghraj, who threatens him to leave the case of Umanath and offers him money. Feluda refuses. Feluda makes a trap for Maganlal as he is the most suspicious character in this case. At the end, the mystery is solved by Tuku, Umanath's son. Tuku says that the statue now lies with the African king. Feluda solves this riddle and wins the game. Maganlal Meghraj falls into the trap and the police arrests him.
