Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. (born May 20, 1983), popularly known as Jr. NTRor Tarakis a Popular Indian film actor who appears in Telugu movies. He is son of actor/politicianNandamuri Harikrishna and Shalini. He is the grandson of Legendary actor turned politician NTR.
Starting his career as a child actor with Ramayanam (1996) as a child artist, Tarak began his professional career five years later as a lead actor with Ninnu Chudalani (2001). His work includes Student No. 1, Aadi, Simhadri, Yamadonga, Adhurs, and Brindaavanam. Tarak has established himself as one of the most prominent, leading, and successful actors of Telugu cinema.
Tarak is a Son of Harikrishna and Shalini. He is the grandson of actor and filmmaker NTR. He has two half brothers, Kalyan Ram and Janaki Ram and a half sister and. He also Nephew of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. Actor Taraka Ratna is his cousin. He did his schooling atVidyaranya inHyderabad. He was highly influenced by his Legendary Grandfather NTR from his childhood and developed interest in cultural and social activities. He learned Kuchipudi( famous South Indian Classical dance) during his school days and performed shows at various places both in India and abroad winning laurels and awards. As a child artiste he acted in his grandfather's film 'Brahmarshi Viswamithra' in the year 1993. He began his career as a child artist. His first movie he starred in was Brahmarshi Viswamithra directed by NTR himself. But his full length major role movie was Bala Ramayanam directed by Guna Shekar. Tarak made his re-entry into the Tollywood with Ninnu Choodalani in 2001; but it failed to perform well at the box office. However in the same year he went on to gain fame with Student No. 1 , directed by S.S. Rajamouli, followed by soft said Love story Subbu and Aadi, which was a blockbuster, and created immediate stardom for him. In year 2003, he came up with a Political Movie Naaga. Even though the movie raised some political issues worth giving a thought, it settled as an average However his next movie Simhadri went on to become a Blockbuster. In 2004, his carrer took a down turn with Andhrawala. Though Sambafared as above average grosser his next movies Naa Alludu and Narasimhudu released in year 2005 did badly at box office, in 2006, his filmAshok (film) had the biggest opening week gross in his career but did not appease his fans.
His next movie Rakhi directed by Pasupuleti Krishna Vamsi which proved a success at the box office, has gained him admirable reviews from fans and critics alike. His next movie, Yamadonga, which was inspired by his grandfather’s blockbuster Yamagola, released in August 2007 brought him back into the super-hit stream, and became the sensational movie of the year. Jr. NTR's next film was Kantri, released in May 2008 exposed his superb skill of dancing. In year 2010 he appeared in two movies, and both of them Adhurs in which he played a dual role and Brindavanam succeeded well at box-office. Shakthi was scheduled for release on 1 April 2011. Jr NTR is supposed to appear in three roles in this movie.  This film is released in Telugu and Tamil versions at once. Jr NTR's is currently shoting with Ooservelli directed by surrender reddy. Another Movie under the direction of Boyapati Seenu was launched on February 18, 2011. Titles like Churakatti and Dhammu are under consideration.Jr. NTR was one of the campaigners for the Telugu Desam Party, for the Indian general election, 2009 from April to May 2009. Tarak became engaged to his distant relative Lakshmi Pranathi on 1st April 2010. The couple married on May 5 2011 at a private sermony at shilpa kala vedika, Hyderabad.
