    Yummy…It’s Tasty!

The book converted into a movie. This is a kind of book where, sometimes you would feel happy, sometimes sad, something is funny and something is very boring, you would feel the compassionate love and you would also feel the hatred to someone, something would excite you and something would depress you. May whatever you would feel, but would definitely feel so hungry while watching the movie.

This movie can be explained in just two words ‘Sweet cum Chilly Spicy’.

The story is about of two women’s, Julia Child (Meryl Streep), the one who is in past & Julie Powell (Amy Adams), the one who is in current. Julie is currently working in some call centre and is very obsessed with her due to for many reasons, they shifted to a new house which is far away from his office place but closer to his husband’s office place, call centre work makes her sick as all of the callers yells at her, their friends are achieving success at her field but she is stick to her same place only. Many years ago, more or less the same was happening with the famous legendary cook Julia Child. When she was just a common woman like any other woman, she was totally depressed with her life as she was not able to figure out, what’s her motive of life. She tried many works but was not enjoying. Then she finally understood that she loves to eat the food, and enjoys eating various foods. As she was French so she was keenly interested in French foods. Later she joined some cookery classes where she was enjoying making different kinds of French foods. To expand her knowledge she was in search for some cook book that gives the information about French food, but the language should be in English, as though she was staying at France but was not able to understand their language. She was staying at France just because of her husband Paul Child (Stanley Tucci) was working for Govt. Agency and he need to transfer from one place to another. Now back to Julia Child, as she searching for some cook book, but later she didn’t find what she was exactly looking for. Then at one day, she and along with her two other friends decided to write a book instead of searching. Julia Child made her own 524 recipes and converted them into a book. And later after many struggles with the publishers, she finally got her book published, and rest is a history. She became very famous and is a legend now.

More or less exactly the same happened with Julie Powell. As she was very frustrate and very obsessed with her life, she decided to write her book with help by Julia Child’s book. She decided to make these 524 recipes in a span of 365 days. And with each day and with each recipe she will share her experience according to that. With the help of her husband Eric Powell (Chris Messina), they made an Internet blog where Julie was writing and sharing her experience daily and uploading to that blog, where slowly-slowly people showed their interest in that blog and sooner that blog was very popular in the Electronic media. Due to this one of the Reporters from the New York Times came for on Interview with Julie Powell. After the article was published in New York Times, she became even more famous through Print Media. Calls after Calls came from the publisher houses that they wanted to actually publish their book. From these calls, one call came from one person who was related with Julia Child, and he said that if Julia Child would be alive today then she would probably dislike this and would hate her like anything. This broke the heart of Julie, but then later she understood that what exactly the concerned person or what exactly the Julia Child wants to say her. It’s just the love for food which is important and above from all.

The most creative part in the film is its story telling, one scene of Julie as in current and one scene of Julia Child as in past. And each scene around 15mins long. The performance by each and every character is extremely wonderful, especially by the Julia Child – Meryl Streep; she was ‘The Amazing’.

All in all, nicely and sweetly written story which is a bit quite lengthy, but apart from that the film will surely serve you the delicious food as tasty as yummy!

    Rating: 3 / 5
