Kajraare rating: 4 out of 10(Vinayak Chandra wrote on 07 Nov 2010)

Kajraare was the only movie of Himesh among his upcoming ones, from which i had hopes. Probably for the fact that it was written by Mahesh Bhatt. Radio was as pathetic as it could get, but even this hope (for Kajraare) came crashing down.

Kajraare is a story about a guy, Rajeev (Himesh Reshammiya), who falls in love with a bar dancer/prostitute (Nargis), who hails from Heera Mandi (Pakistan). But there is more to it than just the love story. Rajeev has a past, a past that will only lead him to his death. His real name is Rocky, a rockstar who is traced by an international terrorist, for he killed the terrorist's brother.

The posters and the synopsis of the movie were very much interesting. Reading lines like 'A man running away from his past, a woman who wants to escape her future', does build up a sense of curiosity, but alas what unfolds on screen is amateurish display.

Pooja Bhatt makes a mess out of everything. The direction is so weak and so is the casting. She misses out solely on major and emotional points. Like you have Himesh thirsty for the villain's blood in the climax, for he killed his young paralyzed sister, but you just dont connect with it for there is no emotion build up. There is absolutely no life in her direction. Scenes dont make any impact.Songs appear wasted for the reason, they appear out of any situation and dont justify the sequence. Keeping songs to showcase the emotion, without working on a solid scene isnt done, Pooja.

The actor donning the role of an internation terrorist appears like a dickhead and is unintentionally hilarious for the role of such a high stature villain.

Writing is extremely weak. Seems like Bhatt Saab took Himesh for granted and wrote a script in a hurried manner. There is no continuity, no connecting point, lifeless scenes and add to it the the overexposed usage of songs.

Usage of songs is one aspect, where all of Himesh's movies have failed. Aap Kaa Surroor had song forced just about at every 10 minute interval for no reason. Same continued with Karzzz and it broke heights with Radio, which was a total crap movie and appeared more like a set of situations for a music video. Here again, songs are at regular intervals, mostly appearing forced and turning out to be wasted.

Background music was okay. Nothing special. The violin version of Rabba Luck Barsa was very good.

Dialogues are good somewhere. There are certain dialogues i really liked. But many were so poorly delivered by Himesh.

    Coming to performances,

Himesh Reshammiya is extremely dull. No improvement in acting, no improvement in dialogue delivery. Add to it, his crap hairstyle. All in all from his appearance to his minimal acting, everything appears dull.

Mona Laizza is very good. She does her part very well.

Amrita Singh was the best of the lot. Very lively acting.

    Gaurav Chanana was okay.

    Javed Sheikh was wasted.

The villain (Adnan Shah i suppose) was totally lame. Hilarious!

    Gulshan Grover was good.

On the whole Kajraare is a wasted product, with wasted writing, direction and acting by the lead. The only good thing about it was its music, which too got wasted. Anyhow, for me Himesh's last movie Radio was crap and unwatchable,so in that case Kajraare could atleast be watched once by all his fans. Else the movie has nothing to offer. Disappointed!
