Suresh chandra was a middle class man. He gave his motherless daughter Kajal to rich Harendra's eldest son Biswambhar for marriage. He kept the mortgage of his house in ten thousand rupees. Though Kajal didn't want her marriage to be arranged in this fashion, but Sureshchandra did his father's duty. But Kajal was not happy in this marriage because Biswambhar wanted to marry Jharna. When Suresh chandra and his sister came to know about this, they were worried. Biswambhar always believed if there was anyone to marry it was Jharna. Biswambhar's step mother Surudhani and his aunt Chandra also wanted Biswambhar's marriage with Jharna. They wanted so becasue it would help Suradhani's own daughter Sunanda's marriage, but Jharna's father made a protest of Sunanda's marriage. So after marriage, Kajal's life become a hell. Father in law Harendra, Bishwambhar's younger brother Aju and their servant Kalipada were in favour of Kajal. But as she could not tolerate the harrassment of Sundhani and Chanda, she had to move from her father's house. When Kajal came back to her house, she was pregnant. Suddenly she fell ill. After a lot of tension, Bishwambhar understood his faults. Jharna too. Biswambhar ultimately came to take back Kajal with him.
