Kamaal Rashid Khan was born on May 20, 1960. He is mainly an actor in Bhojpuri film industry and has his loyal base. Nowadays, he calls himself KRK, similar to Shah Rukh Khan being called SRK.
KRK marked his debut in Hindi film industry in 2008 with a B grade film Desh Drohi. He also donned the hat of a producer of this film. The film attracted lot of publicity in the wake of the attacks on North Indians in Maharashtra, as the film's release coincided with these events. The Censor Board objected to some scenes of the film, which could hurt the sentiments of the local Marathi population. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a regional political party protested against the movie and its release was stalled in Maharashtra. However in the process, the film got much more publicity than it would have been able to get on its own. Despite the hype, the critical response to the film was overwhelmingly negative. The film received the Lajja Award for Worst Treatment of a Serious Issue Award at the Golden Kela Awards held in Delhi.
KRK is now reportedly working on a sequel to Desh Drohi, titled Desh Drohi 2 - 26/11 War In Mumbai. This film will deal with the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
KRK made his television debut in the Bigg Boss - 3, a reality show on Colors channel, an Indian version of international show Celebrity Big Brother.
