Meethi Jaise Daane Hon Anaar Ke, Khatti Jaise Ye Anardana Hai

It stands tall vis-à-vis contemporary cinema, it’s dark in nature and narration, and is handsomely executed. Be it TV series episodes, entertainment cinema for children, adaptation of western classics or presenting pure desi masala in videshi set-up, Vishal Bharadwaj delivers the best in class to cherish…

    Fuperhit Film!

Kaminey is a cult film without any doubt. After making movies like Maqbool (2004) and Omkara (2006) which were critically acclaimed but did not taste sweet box office success, Vishal is potentially looking at a real box office dynamo With Kaminey. Swine flu notwithstanding, consequent closure of theaters in Maharashtra in the opening weekend and other external factors taken into account, audience will watch the film and fall in love with this new bold look of Hindi movies.

Kaminey is an intelligent film throughout and assumes the same for ... » read more

    Exhilarating stuff.......................Dhan te nan

No doubt,Kaminey is the first dark comedy in Hindi cinema in true sense of the term. Vishal Bharadwaj deals once again with underworld (after Maqbool, Omkara), but, this time, he has followed a hatke track and woven a tale that makes you feel only Vishal could have handled properly. The start is a little dull, but slowly the movie generates pace and momentum and after that,no looking back. Kaminey is not the popcorn fare, but intelligent cinema, that leaves a lot to interprete.

The movie is about ... » read more

Guy Ritchie meets Charlie Kaufman meets Vishal Bharadwaj!

You’ve got twins, you’ve got a concoction of gangsters, you’ve got
corrupt cops, you’ve got Mumbai’s underbelly by the railway tracks of Cotton Green. You’ve also got Dhan-te-naan - the archetypical hero-chases-villain BG score of the 70s. What’s different you ask. I’d say everything.

Vishal Bharadwaj takes clichés out of characters, formula out of
plots, melodrama out of twists and creates an original Bollywood
caper. It may remind you of Ritchie’s quirky characters or
    Tarantinos’s ... » read more

This is a Vishal Bharadwaj world. And this time (after Makdee, Maqbool & Omkara) discover a new world within his world. “Kaminey” is a deliberately confusing, arresting, mesmerizing & hard hitting tale showcased with never shown technicalities in the galaxy of hindi filmdom. Vishal tagged this film as a “mass” product, but strangely “Kaminey” turns out to be a platter for the evolved cinematic connoisseur. One feels aggravated after taking a plung into this surreal world of ‘Kamineys’ as one realizes that this film would never ... » read more

Its simpler to take a ' chota fortcut' and walkaway saying Kaminey did not impress. You need to love Vishal's passion for his craft to see his labour again. For the man who gave us Makdee, Maqbool. Omkara and The Blue Umbrella, there are no 'fortcuts' in this movie too! Charlie and Guddu as the totla-hakla twin brothers entangled in a plot of typical hindi masala Seeta n Geeta displaced identities, set in a mumbai underworld backdrop is nothing new to us. Its the beauty with which Vishal tells his story that seduces us. Its the intensity and honesty with which Shahid Kapur ... » read more

With his past work setting the expectations sky high (haven't seen The Blue Umbrella yet, but I hear that too is brilliant), I couldn't wait beyond Friday evening to catch this one.
After his take on Macbeth and Othello, Vishal Bahrdwaj delivers an ‘original’, giving the Midas touch to a clichéd ‘double-role’ phenomenon, setting up an entire new archetype of film making.
The movie involves splintered stories intertwined through a night, where the sequence of events unfolds into unique consequences for all the characters, suddenly tying them all together. ... » read more

Some of the film directors are taking Bollywood into an all new terrain... which would ultimately result in a wide diversification of genres of movies , something that Hollywood has attained. Leading the herd, is surely Vishal Bharadwaj.
Welcome to the world of dark cinema!!! Vishal Bharadwaj has successfully built characters with peculiar nuiances. The gravity of each character is palpable by their dialogues, mannerisms and body language. The plot of the movie is pretty ordinary , but it is the screenplay and direction that lifts the movie to an all new level.

Priyanka's performance in itself is worth seeing. She is stunning, bold and weirdly chic. The twists arent really that powerful though. Shahid is strictly OK. The music is hummable.

I was expecting a lot more from Vishal after Omkara though and Kaminey came a bit short. But a credible effort nevertheless. The chemistry between Guddu and Sweety is the major selling point for the movie. It touches you at many levels. I wish it wasnt so brief though. The director could certainly have potrayed their relationship in more debth.
