Karthik Calling Karthik rating: 7 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 03 Mar 2010)

It’s very true that Bollywood is really calling new ideas and delivering the audience with some new piece of entertainment. I think I can compare this film with “Bhool Bhulaiya”, people expected that it would be some comedy, but although it came out to be totally a different kind of movie, but a good kind of movie. Similarly in KCK, people must have expected that this would be some love story with add-on’s, but it came out to be totally a different kind of movie, with a very good suspense holding it till the end.

A man name Karthik (Farhan Akhtar) is a loser in his life. He was always getting bullied in his office by his boss Mr. Kamath (Ram Kapoor) and by his colleagues. Also he found out that the lady with whom he fell in love, Shonali (Deepika), who was also working in the same office, is having a boyfriend who is also working in the same office. Very soon he was highly depressed and was going to commit suicide but then suddenly one call came, the man behind the call was declaring himself the Karthik only. At first point of time he was shocked, but then later the caller Karthik was helping him to boost up the confidence inside him and this helped him in various ways. He got his job back, people respected him, and also Shonali was in his life, just because of that caller Karthik, who used to call him daily at 5.00am. Soon when Karthik told this everything to Shonali, she understood everything and pleaded Karthik to consult some psychiatrist. He visited psychiatrist but then he proved to everyone that these calls aren’t imaginary, but they are real, and somebody is really speaking on the phone. But then the caller Karthik was angry with the original Karthik just because he has said this secret to everyone.

Now the whole story revolves around this by creating more suspense like who the person, the caller Karthik is in real, why is he helping the original Karthik and now why is he ready to destroy to everything.

    My Comment:
Written & Directed by the new comer in the Industry Vijay Lalwani has done something tremendous job in his opening, and we wish to see his more upcoming films. Farhan Akhtar has proved once again that he some extra ordinary guy which performs fantastic. Deepika although was looking like a supporting actress, but still managed to cope up with a very good performance overall holding with a gorgeous looking face. Ram Kapoor as a Boss was perfectly casted like “Hari Sadu” which is very famous and seen in Ads of Rest were all type cast.

    Plus Points:
    1. New Idea & Story Concept.

    2. 2nd half Screenplay & also the overall Direction.

    3. Performance by the lead actor.

    4. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

    5. All the technicalities like Cinematography, Editing, etc. were upto the mark.

    6. And last but not the least, the holding power of suspense till the end.

    Minus Points:
    1. The first half of the story was scripted loosely. Stretchy and Boring.

    2. Some dialogues in the love story going on between Karthik & Shonali. Very funny & too silly.

    Final Verdict:
This call can only be taken once, as the suspense is revealed, one would surely think for not receiving this call 2nd time. But if one has not seen this movie and if interested in new kind of cinema, then don’t think this will be a wrong number, take this call and enjoy the movie.

    3.25 / 5
