Kay Kay Menon was brought up in Ambarnath and Pune, in Maharashtra. In early days of childhood, he lived in Khadki, where his father was posted. Kay Kay studied at the St Joseph's Boys high school in Khadki, but completed his MBA in Pune, at the Department of Management Science - University of Pune. Kay Kay then joined the the advertising industry.
However, therefater he started his career in theatre productions which gradually moved to television acting. He worked in TV serials such as Pradhan Mantri and telefilms like Zebra 2 and Last Train To Mahakali.
He started working in films. His first film was Naseem (1996), followed by Bhopal Express (1999). His work in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005) won him critical acclaim. His performances in Deewar (2004), Sarkar (2005), Corporate (2006), Life in a... Metro (2006), as well as the controversial Black Friday (2007) were greatly appreciated.
He has recently worked in the film Drona (2008) playing the key villain in the film.
