    Kadve, Bhaddhe Chutkule!

I honestly can’t believe Priyadarshan has directed this film! Really … what was he thinking? Khatta Meetha neither has story nor script and I am not just saying it because the story was bad, I am literally saying that there is really absolutely no story in this movie. All that “trying-to-be-funny” man Akshay does through out the film is yell at the top of his voice, barring his teeth ever so often and dish out crappy dialogues which are supposed to be satirical. Khatta Meetha is a pitiful attempt at cinema.

Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) is a contractor who aspires to bag bigger projects from the municipality. Therefore he irritates the new lady commissioner who shares a history with him. On the other hand 3 municipal employees and a politician try to cover-up a fallen bridge fiasco which is a result of their corrupt means of working. I think that about sums up the story because throughout the long treacherous 2.5 hours plus film nothing happens!!!

The jokes don’t even make you smile. In the beginning of the film Tinu Anand is bumped off for a crime he didn’t commit and you feel … okay, maybe this is the story but this whole episode is conveniently forgotten till the last half an hour of the film where suddenly everything works out. The actors (probably leaving out Manoj Joshi) don’t even attempt to talk in a Maharashtrian accent; little things like calling Aruna Irani “Aayi” instead of “Maa” would have given it a more Satara-family type feel but that doesn’t happen. Urvashi Sharma looks good though, unlike her previous films she’s been given a very simple look and it really brings out her beauty. Trisha doesn’t really impress and she absolutely doesn’t justify the role of a Commissioner. Milind Gunaji, Makrand Despande and Johnny Lever are wasted.

Overall Khatta Meetha is neither Khatta nor Meetha it’s a whole load of B.S… just like one of the songs in the film. If you’re really looking forward to a movie this weekend then consider Angelina Jolie’s SALT or last week’s TERE BIN LADEN.

Khatta Meetha is absolutely NOT recommended.
