The film is about a girl called Togri who sees her future husband only on the day of the wedding. The groom’s father wants an enormous dowry which Togri’s father cannot manage and dies of a heart attack. Togri starts spending life with her brother. Her brother does not do anything but steals food to manage a living. Togri is very unhappy and is living with the memories of her husband. Even her husband lives with the memories of his wife he has not seen. Togri’s friend, Nili some how manages to get Togri’s husband's address. She sends him a letter on behalf of Togri saying that she is still waiting for him. Khokha, on receiving the letter comes back to take Togri with him. But Togri’s brother says she is dead because he does not want to part with his sister. Togri’s brother gets married to a greedy and quarrelsome girl who steals all the rice which Togri brings home for earning money. She manages in creating a rift between the brother and sister and then Togri leaves home. She is brought to her husband’s home by Niki’s brother. She stays at her husband’s big house as a cook where no one recognises her. She manages all the household work. Meanwhile there are plans for her husband to get married again. She is heart broken. Even Khokha is very unhappy because he is loyal to his wedded wife, Togri but he cannot recognise her. Togri's brother comes to her place looking for her and tells Khoka that he had lied. All ends well with the ringing of the wedding bells.
