Dev’s last film Romeo was a big disappointment for his fans because over there he had to act, there was no action, no ‘Romeogiri’ and no ‘Devgiri’ hence the film didn’t do well at all as expected. However his fans will not be disappointed at all with his latest film ‘Khokababu’ which is a complete masala film with all the necessary ingredients in it. The name of the film seems to have been taken from a popular track from his film ‘Sedin Dekha Hoyechilo’ which had the track ‘Khokhababu Jai Lal Juto Pai’.
The film is about Khokha who is a fraud and a hopeless guy. His desperate father lands him with a job with Shankar Das (How and why God knows!) who is one of the most feared dons in the city. He is extremely close to his younger sister Puja and anyone who even looks in her direction is simply dealt with in the cruelest possible way.Khokha somehow manages to win over Puja and also gains the complete trust of Shankar by changing the system in which his business operates.Shankar asks him to look after Puja as he considers his other employees to be incapable.Khokha and Puja fall in love with each other and even gets secretly married. She even goes to his house to stay for 3 days as Shankar‘s rival is after her life.Shankar is completely unaware of Khokha and Puja’s relation, however he does come to know about it later.Shankar’s rival kidnaps Puja and severely injures and we think he is dead after being beaten black and blue and having been stabbed, but no he survives and it seems nothing much has happened to him! As they say, everything is possible in films.
It is left to Khokha and Shankar to rescue Puja from his rival!
The film is an action film with lots of comedy as well. It has loads of both the things specially the action and his fans will love the action sequences and their idol playing to the gallery! The name itself suggests that he is a phenomenon in the film! Yes he definitely is as there is a background chant that goes ‘Khokababu, Khokababu’ every time he walks away after making a point and in a truly dramatic way. He is the star!Firdaus who has become a character actor cum second lead of late as he is no longer seen as a hero had made an impact in Fighter and over here as well as Shankar Das, he does good job. We are nowadays getting to see Asish Vidyarthi only as a villain in films and we definitely want that to change as he is getting stereotyped though he is capable of a lot more. The Dev-Subhasree chemistry is as usual good. The Music by debutant music director Rishi Chanda is interesting and refreshing. The songs have been shot in Switzerland, France and other places.
Khokha is all set to rock this week!
