Madhuri (Swarna Kamal), a young girl in a village gets married to Raj (Indrajit), a soldier in the Indian Army (who has hair which definitely a soldier can’t have). The war ends, yet he doesn’t comeback. His mother ill treats Madhuri and she goes and stays with her parents. One day a guy named Uday rescues her from goons and falls in love with in due course of time. When Madhuri goes to commit suicide by drowning, she is rescued by Uday who applies mud on her forehead and ‘marries’ her. Drama! Drama! They are forced to flee to the house of ‘Ma’ a lady who looks upon Uday as her son. Their identity is revealed in due course of time. Meanwhile Raj (with shoulder length hair) comes back after years and comes to search for his wife. After Uday and Madhuri’s identity is revealed, the panchayat decides to take up the matter and settle it. On the judgment, Madhuri goes into labour at the spot and is taken to hospital. She gives birth to a boy, but passes away. Uday and Raj both decide to look after the child. More wailing when they here Madhuri is no more! There are so many flaws that it is laughable. Firstly the hair of Raj.He would have been kicked out had someone like him gone there. Secondly how can a soldier’s wife keep on appearing at will at the place (the border where the soldiers are posted) at will? How can a freedom fighter (Raj’s father) be so affluent so as to own a Toyota Innova? That can only happen if he has some other source of income. How can a panchayat in today’s world decide the fate of people like Madhuri, Raj and Uday?Yes it happens even today in the villages but that is when all people concerned are illiterate, not the people we saw in the film who hardly seemed to be villagers.Soham and Indrajit are strictly okay and Swarna Kamal doesn’t improve. From day one, people have never really taken to her and there is no reason why they should a she has been bad but never okay either. In all her films, either she hardly matters or if she does, there is too much of melodrama from such a young actress. She needs to come out of this phase if she has to improve. All the songs of this film have been sung by people like Aneek, Emon, Anwesha etc(people who have either won or emerged runner up in some reality show related to singing). The Minister for Fire Services Pratim Chatterjee acts in this film after a while. He is usually seen in only films directed by Haranath Chakrabarty.Biplab Chatterjee as Pratap, the village master has acted well.Anuradha Roy has tried to project a ‘chic’ image, but it really doesn’t suit her and should stick to her normal roles.
