Within the span of 7 days 3 films of director Shankar Roy released. The last one is “Kichu Chaoa Kichu Paoa” (KCKP) being the first Bengali film released in 2010. Like all other Shankar Roy film, this film too has an English Line Tagged with the title. Here the line is belier it or not, “A (???) biggest movie of the year”. Only the English and the statement suggest hoe the film rates.
The story is based on a true and much known incident. It revolves around a poor village girl who was first married to a military man.
Her husband didn’t return from the war front. After long 3 years her father again forced her to remarry a local boy. But when she became pregnant by her second husband, her first husband returns and claims for her. The village Panchayet gave the verdict for the second husband on the ground that the first marriage was still valid as the first husband is still alive. The first husband even was ready to accept the poor girl along with her child to be born. But nobody wanted to know what the girl wanted. She loved both her husband and child too. And the poor girl was faced to go back o her first husband. She gave birth to a child. And after a few months she died. Apparently she died out of malnutrition, but social scientists and doctors of psychology said she died out of acute depression. The society, the system actually killed her.
A Hindi film is already been made on the same story, two years back.
Here the girl’s name is Madhuri (Swarna Kamal), the military man is Raja (Indrajit Chakraborty) and the other man is Uday (Soham). The only deference is that, here the poor girl died while giving birth to her child. And two husbands take the responsibility of the child. Which tones down drastically the main focus of the theme- social injustice to a woman by male dominated barbaric village administration.
The acting is very very poor, especially of the lead actress. She was unable to realize the trauma of a woman facing this kind of social crisis. Indrajit and Soham are also bad, they were more interested to show case their talent in action and song-dance sequences. Direction and photography is too bad. Hence, in a totality KCKP has become “The greatest disaster of the year”.
