Kimi Katkar is a Bollywood actress and a successful model. Katkar was a popular Indian actress from the 1980s and the early 1990s.She was born in Mumbai.Kimi Katkar got attention when she was noticed as a girl lost in a forest wearing a wet flimsy white dress in the 1985 Hindi movie, "The Adventures of Tarzan" with rubber crocodiles, plastic snakes, stuffed lions and a really stuffy yet expressionless Tarzan. She went on to do a few tiny yet significant roles in Hindi cinema. Her claim-to-fame and breakthrough movie came when she was cast as Jumma opposite the phenomenon Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in the Hindi feature film, "Hum" in which he was seen as an Angry Young Man, a title that solely belongs to him. The hugely popular song, "Jumma Chumma De" from the Hindi film, "Hum" sung by playback singers Sudesh Bhosale and Kavita Krishnamurthy--Subramaniam gave Kimi's declining career an instant boost.

She acted with the yesteryear superstar Vinod Khanna in films like "Ustaad" etc. Similarly, she also shared screen space with the superstars of her times, Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor,Mithun Chakravarthy and Govinda, Jeetendra . A few more films later, she confined herself to being the conventional singer doing purely the song-and-dance routines in films that starred Govinda like "Dariya dil", "jaisi karni waisi bharni" which were hits.

Her offbeat role with Rishi kapoors' "Khoj" was very good but the film bombed.

She quit the Hindi film industry after her marriage to ace photographer and ad-filmmaker Shantanu Shorey. She is settled down in Melbourne, Australia.
