Kony is a film of a stuggle of a poor but talented girl. Kony is a swimmer with aspiration to become a good wimmer. But poverty is the greatest enemy to her success. She is raw talent that needs dimension as well as direction for a bright future. Fortunately she finds Khitish Singh (Soumitra ) who discovers her great strenth. He decides to train her in order to become a great swimmer. He provides financial assistance to Koni's family & also arranges for her food. He realises the fact that a healthy & strong body is the key to success in sports, so he begins to develop Kony through his experince & comlpete dedication. All the rich & influential people in the society get jealous of Kony's success & begin to errect barriers to her success. She becomes the victim of torture & oppression. They refuse to give any chance to Kony to prove her worth. Inspite of all sufferings she does not lose her heart & intention of becoming a great swimmer. Finally a swimming competitor fell ill & so came Kony's single chance for which she was waiting so long. The trainers tried their best but could not prevent Kony from taking part in the swimming competition. Finally her hardwork & dedication did not go in vain & she succeded in the competition. In was a dream come true for Kony & her teacher Khititsh. Though Kony seems to be a thrilling film of sport politics, it also has an inner dimension where it transends the boundary of the temporal & becomes a document of man's struggle against all odds - social injustice & oppression. It is not just a story of success but it is also an echo of the beginning - an eternal struggle against the unkind waves of barriers to achieve the final victory for the deprived.
