  • Kucch Average Jaisaa….

Kucch Luv Jaisaa rating: 5 out of 10(Divya Solgama wrote on 27 May 2011)

Whenever a film starring ‘Rahul Bose’ releases one does expect something unusual in it as the so called thinking actor tries to do something different and not succumb to glamour of the film industry. In between he tired doing some romantic comedies out of which few worked and few were horrible. In continuation with the same trend he comes up with another good actor Shefali Shah in their latest film ‘Kucch Luv Jaisaa’. The film is produced by the actress husband Vipul Shah a hit producer/director, thus the expectations raises high and one does expect a nice cinema. So let’s find out how much nice is it ?

‘Kucch Luv Jaisaa’ is story of a bored middle age house wife Madhu {Shefali Shah} who is missing the love from his husband in day to day routine life. She has her birthday on 29th of Feb which her husband Shravan {Sumeet Raghavan} use to celebrate with full love and happiness, but the love starts to fade out in her life and on this birthday Sharavan completely forgets it. Madhu is sad, depressed and lonely and thus she decides to go out and enjoy on her own. She meets a stranger Raghav {Rahul Bose} who is a criminal on run and introduces himself as a detective. Madhu is fully excited to meet a detective and thus request him to assist him for a day, which he agrees. What happens next is all the film about.

Story is simple and in a way one liner. But the concept of a Bored-Lonely House Wife meeting a Criminal on run is fantastic, but such concepts need good moments to fill in. Sadly the film doesn’t have enough good moments to fill in. Still the film boost of the title track explaining the love and lost in Madhu-Sharavan’s life, Followed by the difference in today’s life, Shefalis excitement in helping Rahul, The whole car driving scenes, Rahul’s definition of Chandramukhi-Suryamukhi-Jawalamukhi, Rahul-Shefali discussing life and mistakes, Lunch, Birthday Chocolate, Sumeet-Shefali scene at the party, etc. But one does need more such scenes throughout the film and what we get is more of monotony in between. On the flip side the Rahuls action scenes looked tacky, slow pace near the interval time, Monotony in second half and Rahuls love for Neetu. Also there were minor continuity errors and some goof ups in the film. If some more interesting scenes would had been added up and a minor editing here and there would had made the film crispier. Camera work is fine.

Music by Pritam is soothing. Kucch Luv Jaisa and Kabhi Main Jee Lu are the best ones, followed by Khwaisho Ke and more.

Director Barnali Sukhla had assisted Ram Gopal Varma in Satya and it took him years to get his first debut film. As said earlier the concept is superb, but a director needs to carry the film. Sadly he fails to do it at many places. Still the movie has its moments, thanks to the concept. Wish he would have worked some more time over it and made it a perfect product.

Rahul Bose is good, but has nothing new to offer in this role. Shefali Shah was superb and you will love to watch her in this film. Her expression and moods were performed so well that one can connect with her at many times. Sumeet Raghavan is another good actor who needs a life time role; out here too he gives good support and shines in the end. Neetu Chandra was bad, Om Puri in small role was fine.

So bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hai Dum ?

Dum hai, concept mein dum hai, followed by good performance by Shefali Shah. But thanks to the half baked script and dragging middle order the film ends up as a ‘Kucch Average Jaisa’ product.
