Kishore is an artist who makes theatre plays on women. He falls for a lady named Asha who also is a rival artist. Soon, they come to create art forms together. He promises Asha that they will get married but only after the marriage of his younger sister Laxmi, who is a child widow. This movie touches upon the social evil of a child widow. Nobody wishes to marry Kishore's sister and because of this Kishore becomes lunatic. He claims that, on one end where the world is moving forward, the other end is sinking because of these age old rituals and customs. Meanwhile Asha's brother Sujith is back from London where he had been studying and encounters Laxmi while rescuing her from a mugger. He soon falls in love with her. So will Sujith be allowed to get married to Laxmi, breaking the shackles of the rituals held by the ancestors and will Kishore get back to his normal position?
