It’s the second film of this year which Aditya has produced. Last one “Badmaash Company”hit the box office but unfortunately Adi has to suffer from this one. Director Pradeep Sarkar has made a super film Parineeta in 2005, but once again he makes us to feel yawning again like the one he made us in “Laaga Chunri Mein Daag”. Lafengey Parindey will make you feel good also, but will also make you feel to take a nap also. If this looks on the outside, let’s check what’s there in the inside!
It’s the story of about two person, Nandu (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and Pinky (Deepika Padukone). Nandu and Pinky were neighbors. Nandu was a boxing fighter, who works for Usman Bhai and fights in a local ring but with the cloth tie on his eyes. Usman Bhai is a local gangster and formerly known as “Satta King”. Once in one situation Nandu accidently smacked Pinky while driving. Nandu ran from the spot but Pinky lost his eye sight in this accident. Now Pinky was having a dream to become a good dancer through skates and wanted to participate in “India’s Got Talent” show, but due to her accident, her dream got vanished. Nobody knew that Nandu was driving the car. Nandu felt guilty and as he was expert in blind folded boxing, he decided to teach Pinky how to learn to see without eyes. Slowly they both fell for each other, Nandu also started to learn dance for her, they both also participated in the show, and I guess rest and the climax you all must be aware by now.
Direction by Pradeep Sarkar was just average, this film can be made something inspirational type of, but because of lack in his treatment, the film was moving very fast. He didn’t give time to complete one scene or one situation, and directly jumped off in the end conclusion in the very next shot. For example as Nandu was a blind folded boxer, director just showed us that he is getting hit by the opposite boxer many times and he just hit the opposite guy just one time and the game ends. Is this some 70’s or 80’s stuff?? No treatment given to Pinky’s character, her learning ability situation, her dancing with skates in blindness, no treatment given to Nandu’s character, how he fell in love with her, how a boxer is learning to dance in skates, and so on. Also the finale dance show was not at all impressive. Everything was moving so fast and so by this the audiences mind were getting distracting.
Story was good written by Gopi Puthran, but the dialogues and the overall screenplay written by him was poor. Only the K.K Menon’s part of the dialogues was impressive. But in the entire movie not even a single dialogue from any character were impressive. The overall theme of the movie was good, but the screenplay material made the movie like a simple going movie, without any thrills or emotions or something which entertain the audience. Also the climax was very down, sudden realization to pinky, sudden relieved to Nandu from Police, and all of things didn’t digest it.
Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika gave wonderful performances. They both showed to the people that they are having in them something. Neil gave a good and decent performance as in boxer role and his tapori dialogue delivery was also impressive. Deepika as a blind has given a proper justice to her role. She has acted perfectly, delivered the tapori type of dialogues very efficiently, and performed very well overall. Besides them, Namit Das also gave a brilliant performance. He has a good future ahead. But the most funniest part was the reaction of the Talent Show Judges. Juhi Chawla and Javed Jaffery were making me laugh. They both liked the dance performed by Nandu and Pinky, but why the hell they were crying?? Haven’t they got payment from Mr. Adi???
This movie can be made into a good inspirational and motivating kind of film, but had turned out to be another simple going predictable love story, which was more funnier in many means. In all Lafengey is good, but Parindey udd gaye!
