    Aamir Khan and Asutosh Gowadikad have brought back the lost glory of Indian cinema since it had fallen on the wane after "Mother India". The film has broken off a new ground, though the plot dates back to 1898 at a locale of Champaran in Gujrat.     Lagaan,” as Aamir puts it, “has not been an easy film to make”. When its director Ashutosh Gowarikar first narrated the idea to him, he brushed it off without showing any enthusiasm. But Ashutosh didn’t give up and worked on the script and it’s subtleties for a good five months. And when he showed Aamir a meticulously written script the second time, the dashing Khan relented.

    Now heres a movie that teaches you how to make films. The movie is perfect in almost all departments and infact comes close to the classic Sholay in terms of its flawlessness. It is said that good casting is almost half work done and this is where Lagaan scores.
